Nist & cybersecurity frameworks

Structure the programme.
Prioritise the gaps.
Make progress measurable.

Translate cybersecurity frameworks into a practical security programme. Cyber360 helps you select relevant frameworks, assess current outcomes and build an implementation roadmap aligned with your risks and business priorities.

Understand → Improve → Validate

From questions to decisions

Give security work a shared direction.

Frameworks help leadership and delivery teams discuss the same risks and outcomes. We connect that structure with your current controls, accountable owners and a phased plan that recognises operational constraints.

01

A Clear Baseline

Understand current outcomes and the evidence supporting them.

02

Focused Investment

Prioritise gaps by risk, business objectives and delivery dependencies.

03

Consistent Reporting

Use a common structure for control ownership, evidence and improvement.

When it adds value

Focus effort where it can make a difference.

A New Assurance Requirement

Clarify the business objective, scope and evidence expected by stakeholders.

A Changing Environment

Review the impact of new services, technology, suppliers or operating practices.

Unclear Ownership

Connect decisions and controls with named owners and practical responsibilities.

Preparing for Improvement

Establish a baseline and prioritise actions around risk and delivery dependencies.

Service areas

A structured path to practical improvement.

These are examples for scoping, not an all-inclusive package. Technologies, delivery expertise, access requirements and outputs are confirmed before an engagement.

01

Framework Selection & Scope

Which approach fits your needs?

Example scope
Business services, risks, obligations, stakeholder expectations and existing standards.
What we examine
Fit of NIST CSF, ISO 27001, CIS Controls and agreed sector frameworks.
Evidence to take away
A selection rationale and defined assessment scope.
02

Current & Target Profiles

Which outcomes are achieved and needed?

Example scope
Selected NIST CSF 2.0 outcomes across Govern, Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond and Recover.
What we examine
Current evidence, desired outcomes, gaps and priorities; Tiers provide governance context.
Evidence to take away
Current and Target Profiles with a prioritised gap view.
03

Unified Control Mapping

Can existing work support several needs?

Example scope
Existing controls and mappings to selected frameworks and obligations.
What we examine
Control coverage, overlap, evidence gaps and framework-specific differences.
Evidence to take away
A control catalogue, mapping and responsibility matrix.
04

Governance, Policies & Risk

Can decisions be made consistently?

Example scope
Roles, oversight, policy architecture, risk methodology and supplier expectations.
What we examine
Approval routes, risk treatment, exceptions and integration with business governance.
Evidence to take away
Tailored policies and a practical risk-management process.
05

Implementation & Enablement

How will priorities become working controls?

Example scope
Agreed technical, administrative and physical control work packages.
What we examine
Delivery sequencing, constraints, competence and evidence of implementation.
Evidence to take away
Implementation guidance, awareness materials and an action roadmap.
06

Measurement & Maintenance

How will progress remain visible?

Example scope
Metrics, evidence repositories, review cycles and programme reporting.
What we examine
Outcome evidence, open risks, changes and improvement decisions.
Evidence to take away
A reporting model, evidence checklist and maintenance calendar.

How it works

A clear path from review to improvement.

  1. 01

    Set the Objective

Agree scope, frameworks, stakeholders and business priorities.

  2. 02

    Establish the Baseline

Review current controls and evidence against selected outcomes.

  3. 03

    Define the Target

Agree desired outcomes and priorities with accountable owners.

  4. 04

    Plan and Implement

Sequence agreed improvements and supporting documentation.

  5. 05

    Measure Progress

Review evidence and report outcomes, gaps and remaining risk.

  6. 06

    Maintain the Programme

Reassess after change and update profiles, mappings and actions.

What you receive

Clear enough to decide.
Detailed enough to act.

The reporting package is agreed around your audience and the decisions it needs to support.

Leadership & Programme Owners

  • Framework selection and scope rationale.
  • Current and Target Profiles or equivalent gap baseline.
  • Prioritised roadmap with owners and dependencies.
  • Governance metrics and review priorities.

Control & Delivery Teams

  • Mapped control catalogue and responsibilities.
  • Policy and risk-assessment documentation.
  • Implementation guidance and evidence requirements.
  • Awareness materials and maintenance procedures.

Meaningful progress

Track the improvement.
Keep the evidence.

Agree what completion means for each action: an approved design decision, a reviewed configuration, a resolved finding or a demonstrated process. Record owners, dependencies, exceptions and the evidence available.

A closed task is not automatically a validated security outcome. Choose the follow-up review or test that answers the original question, and record what remains unverified.

Preparing the engagement

Start with the right context.

01

Scope & Objectives

  • Identify services, systems and the assurance question driving the work.
  • Share relevant obligations, stakeholder expectations and target dates.
02

Evidence & Context

  • Provide existing policies, risk assessments, architecture and prior findings.
  • Identify suppliers and dependencies relevant to the agreed scope.
03

People & Ownership

  • Nominate business, technical, risk and operational contacts.
  • Confirm decision authority and ownership of implementation actions.
04

Delivery & Follow-Up

  • Agree work packages, access, constraints and acceptance criteria.
  • Scope independent assurance, system changes and active testing explicitly.

Reference guidance: NIST: Cybersecurity Framework. Relevant practices are selected for the agreed scope; independent assurance and implementation boundaries are confirmed during scoping.

Clear boundaries

Know what the work establishes.

The engagement applies to the agreed scope and evidence. Your organisation retains responsibility for decisions and control operation. Independent audits, certification or attestation, specialist legal advice, production changes and active testing are separately agreed; outcomes are not guaranteed.

Practical questions

Before we get started.

Is NIST CSF a certification?

No. NIST CSF is a framework of cybersecurity outcomes. This work supports its use; it does not provide a NIST-issued certification or regulatory approval.

Does CSF 2.0 have six functions?

Yes: Govern, Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond and Recover. These functions organise outcomes across cybersecurity risk management.

Are Tiers a maturity score?

They characterise the rigour of risk governance and management practices. We use them as context alongside Profiles and evidence, not as a substitute for assessing outcomes.

Can you harmonise multiple frameworks?

Yes. Shared controls and evidence can reduce repeated work, but mappings do not establish automatic equivalence or fulfil every requirement of another standard.
